Chris Orcutt is my oldest friend, and that just recently put us at the 30 year mark. For GET LAMP, while looking around for people to interview who were professional writers who might have tried a hand at interactive fiction (for example, Robert Pinsky), Chris came to mind, and I interviewed him over at his office towards the end of shooting. During the BBS documentary, I was concerned about having "friends" in the movie, and ironically, this caused a dearth of people who I personally knew before interviewing to be in it. This time, I didn't want to pass over anyone worth talking to and available for the crime of knowing me, so Chris was in. His interview talks about why he turned away from game-type writing and why he went full-on for what we call "single-narrative" writing, i.e. what books are. He really came through.
